A recent Forbes article predicts that 2016 will be a great year for digital marketing. Of the seven online marketing trends highlighted, Apps, Virtual Reality and Mobile lead the way. Here's an overview of their predictions;
Apps have come a long long way over the last 10 years. But the recent advancements in app indexing is leading to an explosion of business-grade mobile apps. Whilst mobile sites have their advantages, they still play second fiddle to the incredible functionality that apps can offer.
This goes hand in hand with the aforementioned app explosion. Not only did Google announce that mobile traffic overtook desktop traffic, they also released the “mobilegeddon” algorithm to encourage mobile site optimisation. To quote the Forbes article “it’s clear what side of the fence Google’s on”. The increase in mobile traffic is a clear indication of today’s users’ ‘first screen’. The same screen that aforementioned ‘app explosion’ refers to.
